Can We Talk?—Communities and teachers supporting mental wellness

One step to building healthy Alberta communities is to nurture the mental health of Alberta's youth. The 2010 Conference of the Committee on the Well-Being of Children and Youth aims to share information on how that step can be, and is being, taken.

Presentations by seven different local and provincial organizations will follow breakfast and the morning's keynote address by Dr Wanda Polzin of the CASA, Child Adolescent and Family Mental Health organization. The various sessions will provide information on projects, strategies and resources addressing a range of issues related to mental wellness and youth. In the afternoon, an innovative open-space event incorporating breakout groups will provide attendees with the opportunity to network and have facilitated discussions on topics of most interest to them. The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring brief presentations highlighting various projects undertaken by Alberta schools to promote mental wellness among school-aged youth.

There is no charge to attend the one-day conference, but registration is required and must be received on or before Monday, May 3, 2010.

Hot breakfast and luncheon buffets are included.

Donate Now

The Canadian Mental Health Association wants to empower people to live with better mental health and break the stigma of mental illness.

Its plan is to change the face of mental illness. To do this, it needs support in the form of donations. Donations make a significant difference in sustaining core programs, enhancing specialized supports and developing mental health innovations at CMHA.
